Copper
- Archaeological data suggests that copper has been used for 11,000 years.
- Recycling copper is energy efficient. Recycling one tonne of copper uses 15% of the energy that would be used to mine and extract the same copper.
- Copper is second to silver in electrical conductance. The highest grade copper is 99.99% pure and is used widely in the electrical industry.
- Since it resists corrosion from air, moisture and sea water, copper has been widely used in coin manufacturing.
- Recycled copper is collected from old scrap (discarded, dismantled and obsolete products) and new scrap production (off-cuts & shavings from manufacturing plants)
